THE POPULATION OF REFRIGERATORS BEING ADDRESSED CONTAINS EITHER A SENSING ALGORITHM OR THERMAL SWITCH TO SHUT OFF POWER TO THE REFRIGERATOR WHEN HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE DETECTED IN ORDER TO PREVENT A POTENTIAL FIRE. Here we go again, folks, with another flammable refrigerator recall. It seems like tens of thousands of these refrigerator recalls have happened over the years - seems like, but it has got to be at least as high as 100,000 refrigerator recalls we think. We've been reading about them for years now. On this one, the 1200-series Norcold refrigerator is involved. The technical explanation for the recall says that "the population of refrigerators being addressed contains either a sensing algorithm or thermal switch to shut off power to the refrigerator when high temperatures are detected in order to prevent a potential fire. The response times of the sensor algorithm and thermal switch devices to stop power are not sufficient." That bunch of gobble-de-gook means that the refrigerator can overheat and the stuff they built into it that is supposed to shut it off won't work - and that means a fire can happen.
